The three Local Planning Authorities of Denbighshire, Flintshire and Wrexham supported by the AONB Partnership have worked jointly to produce a draft Supplementary Planning Guidance Note (SPG) for the AONB.

The draft SPG seeks to provide clear and easy to understand guidance to raise awareness of the AONB and improve the quality of development and landscape design in and around the AONB. The draft SPG enables the AONB to be a key consideration from the earliest stages of designing new development. When approved by each of the Local Planning Authorities the SPG will be a material planning consideration in determining planning applications and appeals.

The draft SPG is presented for public consultation commencing on 20th November 2017 and ending on 29thJanuary 2018. There will be two drop in sessions, where Planning Officers will be available to answer questions, at Loggerheads Country Park (A494 Ruthin Road, Loggerheads, CH7 5LH) as follows:

  • Wednesday 6th December 10am-2pm
  • Thursday 18th January 2pm-6pm

The document can be viewed by clicking on this link (PDF). Copies are also available at Denbighshire County Council libraries and one-stop-shops, at County Hall, Mold and at Contact Wrexham - 16 Lord Street, Wrexham LL11 1LG.

The three Local Planning Authorities are keen to hear from a wide range of statutory and non- statutory organisations, town and community councils, voluntary groups and the general public as well as local planning consultants and agents. This feedback will be carefully considered and will help to ensure that the final SPG is as effective as possible in offering clear and concise planning guidance.

Comments should be forwarded to Flintshire County Council who are coordinating the consultation on behalf of the three Local Planning Authorities. Comments should be forwarded by 5.00pm on 29th January 2018 using one of the following methods:
