Great British Spring Clean

Great British Spring Clean March 17th – April 2nd 2023

You may already be aware of the annual Great British Spring Clean due to take place throughout the country between 17th March – 2nd April 2023.

Penyffordd Community Council have registered their interest in taking part and invite you to join with our efforts to keep our villages free of litter and pleasant places for all to live in. It is an acknowledged fact that taking care of our environment provides an increased sense of wellbeing so is of benefit to all.

During the dates highlighted above you may wish to organise your own litter collecting event. You can forward the number of bags collected which will then contribute to an overall figure.

Alternatively, you may wish to join us on Saturday 18th March from 11am – 2pm when you can meet at either of two venues

  • St John’s School Parking, Penymynydd – to focus on area around the woods

  • Millstone Park, Penyffordd – to focus on the village

Whatever your preference bags of litter collected can be left either by the Penymynydd car parking area by the school or Penyffordd Youth all of which will be collected by FCC Streetscene on Monday morning 20th March.

Please note the usual precautions of wearing gloves, high viz vests, using litter grabbers and NOT picking up any unidentified substances, needles or dangerous items are advised. Please report these so that they can be reported to the appropriate body. A pre-talk around safety will be shared.

We will be joined by a group from McDonalds, Broughton who have linked with us to tackle the issues of litter spoiling our countryside.

We really hope that are can get involved in this event either independently or by joining us on the Saturday.  Please let us know how many bags you collect so we can add it to our tally!
