Pen-y-ffordd to Chester Bus update.

Dear Residents,

Further to previous posts, we had the meeting with Arriva Senior management yesterday about getting a resumption of the Chester service for the village, and at this stage they are still unable to make us any concrete offers.

The problem they have is that, as this is a commercial service, they are reliant on funding from Welsh Government, and anticipated funding has not materialised, with current agreements due to run out in June.

This has been a very recent development, and the consequences are that Arriva are having to do a full review of all services, so at this stage they are unable to make us any offer.

This does not mean that we will not be getting the service back, and the managers we met are putting our potential service to the commercial team to be reviewed with others. This has not been helped by the fact that the commercial team, who have a major say on this, have been temporarily relocated to Llandudno to fully concentrate their efforts on that area whilst doing the reviews.

Obviously this is not the news that David, Peter and I either expected or wanted to bring to residents, but this is definitely not the end of the efforts, and we will update you as soon as we have any further news.

Cllr David Williams
