1914-1918 Your village needs YOU!

In November 2018 it will be 100 years since the end of World War One.

The Great War memorial in the Penyffordd War Memorial Institute remembers the names of former residents of Penyffordd, Penymynydd and Dobshill who lost their lives in World War One.

As part of the commemorative events to mark the centenary the Royal British Legion Silent Soldier silhouettes were placed in various locations within the area by Penyffordd clock, St John’s Church, Penymynydd and Dobshill main road.

It is hoped that as a further act of remembrance, poppies made by local residents will be placed on the clock in the week before the Armistice Day service and other planned events in November.

If you would like to contribute a poppy you can sew, knit, craft a handmade one or even buy one to take and attach to camouflage netting to be put around Penyffordd clock tower from the beginning of November. Together let’s make a “weeping wall” poppy display of our own in remembrance.

Every contribution is welcome, please get involved.
