Hanson Cement

In November 2017, the planning committee at Flintshire approved the installation of a new Mill (Mill 5) and rail loading head at Hanson Cement. This will enable more efficient operation of the site, increasing their production, the grade of cement milled and the environmental impact of the site. We have been assured that noise will be no greater than it is currently, though it will be a 24-7-365 operation. The loading of finished goods for distribution by rail is new and will result in a reduction of HGV road traffic.

The Community Council supported the application due to the protection of jobs, but requested additional monitoring of noise and emissions. The final permit for the operation of the site is in the hands of Natural Resources Wales.
